L’abbaye Notre-Dame de Koad Malouen was founded in a thickly wooded area in 1142 by Cistercian nuns from the mother-house in Bégard. Nowadays, only the façade with its twenty-one windows, rebuilt in the 18th century, remains. The remains have been officially listed as a historical monument.
Today, the abbey is a heritage site and a setting for contemporary artistic creation. There is a temporary exhibition of contemporary art and a permanent exhibition on the history of the abbey and the world of the Cistercians.
